I have been pressing ahead, but had to do a bunch of work with my script which pretty much took all my time. But, I finally seemed to work out all the bugs as it is humming along finding domains. So far I have found roughly 1400 expired domains, and of those, a few hundred have page authority over 30. About 5 have page authority in the 40’s. I have registered a number of them and am trying to get them setup with the default instance of WordPress to get them indexed so that I can check their Page Rank. That should take a week or two.
Also, I think I am going to try using Amazon EC2 to host many of the domains. The price for a moderate usage micro instance is around $86 for 3 years which equals about 2.50/mo for each website/instance. The good thing is that I will have a much better chance of getting them all on different c-blocks. I also have access to the OS for things like APC and fine-tuning nginx.
The only thing I will need to work on is using something like this: http://cantina.co/2012/01/25/automated-dns-for-aws-instances-using-route-53/ to be able to have a unique public IP for each instance.
So the setup will be Registrar -> Amazon Route53 -> Amazon EC2 instance.
Oh, I also need to figure out how to create my own AMI image.
For the images I will want: PV (paravirtual), Region – Variable, OS – Archlinux, Architecture – 64bit, launch permissions – implicit, Storage – EBS.
