So I think I am going to build my own theme for the site. I am going to start with Bones and work up from there. Taking a quick look at the source of the home page I can see I need to do some tweaking:
- Include Title Text in <title> tags
- Include meta description on homepage
- Include Meta name=”publisher”
- Include open graph stuff
- Include Twitter stuff
- Clean up tabs so that it looks better
- Microdata the crap out of it
- Create Slider
- Create colorscheme
- Remove Recent Comments, Archives, Meta
This is a real quick glance, but that should be the biggest stuff, other than making it look nice.
Once finished with the items above, I will need to check responsiveness, phone/tablet, and work on speed.
The site will be mostly information articles, but I will add a review post type. I think a question/answer section would be cool too, using the idea from StackExchange. Eventually I will add a forum if there is enough traffic.
What I have done today
Changed the website url again! This time I made it shorter and ends in hub. The reason is so that I can create a brand with the site, the other urls were a little spammy.
Created a coming soon webpage and added it to the site.
Connected the site to Analytics and am trying to get it into webmaster tools, but so far it isn’t working (DNS issues, just got to wait it out.)
Spent $300 on 5 articles from Textbroker today, and about 6 hours. So here is the current bookkeeping:
$97 on Long Tail Platinum (not sure if good idea or not)
$99 on Moz tools
$36 on Domain names
$179.99 Lifetime to themedy
$335.00 Articles at textbroker
$12 on another domain name
